Welcome to Year 2

A very warm welcome to Year 2. This year, we have lots of exciting learning
opportunities to look forward to that make our learning journey irresistible. In Year 2,
we always try to give 100% in everything that we do to be the best that we can
possibly be. To do this, we are following the secrets to success which are to
improve, push ourselves, try new things, never give up, understand others,
concentrate and imagine within all that we do. Now that we have transitioned from
Year 1 to Year 2, we are striving to become independent learners. In our class, we
face new challenges confidently and with a smile and although we are on our own
individual learning journey, we help and support each other along the way. Most
importantly, we want you to have lots of fun!

Homework & Reading 

Listening to stories with your child and regular support with their reading book is very
important, thank you for your continued support. The children will be sent home a
new book regularly, so please make sure they are returned to school once it has been read and a comment written in your child’s reading record. If the children would like extra reading or to borrow a book from our class library in between they are more than welcome to.
Our school books are to be changed every Monday and Thursday.

Please also use Times Tables Rockstars (TTRS) regularly to improve your child’s times tables. Please see reading record book for log in details.

Year Group Expectations

Year Group Expectations provide information for parents and carers on the end of year expectations for children in our school. The National Curriculum outlines these expectations as being the minimum requirements your child must meet in order to ensure continued progress. The year group expectations can be found here

Pupils will need…

Book bag with reading book and reading record daily.
A clean, freshly filled water bottle.

PE

Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school all week. See uniform requirements for further details.
